Thanks for checking out PJ Smith Seeds! It would be my pleasure to help you with your seed needs. We are located in Northeast Phelps County, Nebraska, where we are positioned to serve the Platte Valley area and beyond. Get ahold of me to learn more about Hoegemeyer or to get a quote on any of our great products.
We are a farm family-owned seed dealership that started business in the fall of 2021 with the goal of providing a quality seed product with exceptional service. Our commitment to all of our customers is a successful growing season, which means being by their side to answer questions and solve problems not just during the seed recommendation process, but all season long, from planting through harvest. We know that our long-term success depends on the success of all of our customers. No customer is too big or too small, we are ready to help in any capacity that we can!
Prior to the 2024 growing season, we took time to decide where we wanted to go with our small business following the retirement of our previous brand, Fontanelle Hybrids, who we had been with since 2021. After a lot of research and time visiting with several great brands, we decided that Hoegemeyer would be the best fit for both our own farm, as well as the growers we serve. The Hoegemeyer brand has over 85 years of history here in Nebraska and its parent company, Corteva Agriscience, is U.S. based, unlike many of its competitors. Hoegemeyer has proven performance in the Western Corn Belt and continues to provide new innovation with traits like Vorceed Enlist, and PowerCore Enlist corn, as well as Enlimated Grade Enlist E3 soybeans. We look forward to many great years ahead with "The Right Seed."
I grew up and have spent my entire life just outside of the city of Kearney in the Northeast corner of Phelps County, apart from my years away at college. I am a graduate of Kearney High School and have a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics - Farm & Ranch Management and a minor in Agronomy from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. My wife Janna and I have three awesome children, a son, Kyven, and two daughters, Leighton and Elliot. I am blessed to have the opportunity to farm alongside my dad, Kent and grandpa, Harold. As a farmer myself, I’m working to solve all of the same issues and work toward the same goals as my customers. I want to use my passion for agriculture and agronomy to help serve you.
